Annual Picnic Sunday August 10th
Posted on July 21st, 2014
In August, we have a picnic instead of our monthly program (Inning.) This year our picnic will be held on Sunday, August
10, at the Izaak Walton League Lodge, 544 Branch Hill Loveland Rd., Loveland, OH 45140, along the Little Miami River and Bike Trail near Loveland, OH. Our potluck picnic gathering will be around 4:00 pm, but we invite you to come earlier in the day, place your picnic food in the refrigerator, and enjoy the activities that will be available.
Bring your own bike (or rent one near Nesbit Park) and bike on the Miami Bike Trail, on your own or join the group ride about 2:00 with Elizabeth. Bring your canoe or kayak (or rent one at the nearby Loveland Kayak and Canoe Livery.) You can paddle on your own or join Sandy at 10:00 for a group paddle. There will also be a group hike/walk along the bike bath which meets at the Izaak Walton league lodge at 3:00. There’s a fishing hole not far away – with catfish we hear. It’s a lovely location and you may just want to come, visit with folks and watch the river glide by. Horseshoes, Volleyball, Badminton, Lawn balls, corn hole and croquet sets will be available.
We especially invite families to join us. Depending on the ages of your children, they may want to enjoy a bike ride or join you in a canoe. We’ll have some games for the young ones, and there’s a playground with slides, equipment to climb, and a sand box with toys. Enjoy live music from Queen City Balladeer, Steve Flammer.
Bring something to share for the picnic — appetizer, salad, vegetable, something to grill or a dessert — and your drink. We’ll have a hot grill, plates, plasticware, cups, napkins and water.
